Since its founding in 2008, The Bitteroots' groove-oriented rock 'n' roll has drawn comparisons to the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Melissa Etheridge, and Janis Joplin. Driven by Laura Dees' powerful, soulful lead vocals, the band's core lineup has included Bill Taylor (bass, backing vocals) and Mike Davis (drums), with saxophonist Derron Nuhfer joining in 2014 and guitarist PJ Poellnitz joining in 2018.
